Psyop created this really cool spot for sprint. I love this tiny scale/tilt-shift lens look.

Adobe CS4 Released

[ More ] October 27th, 2008 | No Comments |

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. In the down time, Adobe officially released CS4. So, over the next week I’ll be posting new features in CS4 that can be of some use for creating sports graphics.

3D objects in Photoshop & AE. (Linked video may require flash video upgrade)

While 3d postcards are nothing new in AE, importing .obj (and a few other flavors) into AE is. In a round about way of importing into photoshop and then opening your psd with “live 3d layers” enabled, users are now able to use an After effects camera in conjunction with 3d models. It’s a very small step, in some what of a surprising move by Adobe. (more…)

After effects errors

[ More ] July 15th, 2008 | 1 Comment |

Is it just me or does it seem like After Effects gives you more useless error messages than any other program. Every time I use after effects I feel like I’m moments away from either a crash or a prompt to press “ok” to a dialog box of jibberish. I found that mographwiki has been collecting user submitted AE messages. My personal favorite is the now classic question mark. Nothing else… just a question mark and an “ok” button.

But it’s not all bad. I found a great tutorial for optimizing your AE in response to a very common error. The infamous “Image Buffer” error. Check it out, but use at you’re own risk. Also, I’ve had great success with the secret menu cache settings (see post below for accessing secret menu). Setting it to purge cache after every frame during render, seems to empty out the ram before it moves along to the next frame. Which is very useful.
