Launch Movie

I’m sure everyone has seen the Fox Sports HD tag, in every football game in the last 6months. It’s pretty inventive, and the 60fps (no motion blur) stops you in your tracks. To the untrained eye, the spot stands out among the rest. I think Best Buy used that trick when selling 1080i TVs to help them stand out from the 720p sets. But I digress. What is very interesting about this piece is the process breakdown by Pro Video Coalition. Chris and Trish Meyer of ‘Creating Motion Graphics’ fame, the book that I’m sure taught all of us how to use After Effects (link) have a blog of the same name on Pro Video Coalition. “Creating Motion Graphics Blog“.

The spot was created by Joost (from the netherlands) better known as Renascent and had an interesting workflow with the time differnce.

I’m a sucker for hand drawn animation. Black and white hand drawn style reminds me of that ‘take on me video’… actually it reminds me of the family spoof of the ‘take on me’ video.

I love looking for inspiration in boards. Too bad this piece isn’t an animation.Usually you get to see a pure idea before is passes through the various levels of approval. Where everyone from the account team to the client’s 5 year old daughter get to decide how to “enhance” your idea and fill in all that “blank” space with more “creativity”. As if creativity is a quantity and simpler design isn’t negative space. Anywho, I’ve had Jon Saunders bookmarked in my boards folder and haven’t checked his site in a long time. Great work.
