New Dallas Cowboys Stadium

Wow, the new Cowboys stadium looks amazing. I’ve never seen a video board hung in the middle of a football stadium.

So it recentley came to my attention that I had no support for IE7. Which is a problem, because a lot of people still use PC’s… which I’ll never understand ![]()
So consider GraphicsMafia no longer a pretentious mac supporting blog (if it ever was) and welcome the much cleaner and less tampered with theme to the site.

CHICAGO—Lift has gotten into the spirit of college hoops in a big way. The motion graphics studio, which operates out of Filmworkers Club, has designed and produced a revved up show package for Race to March Madness, a new college basketball series created by Chicago-based Intersport for ABC. I love this piece by Carlo Vega and Adam Gault. Roman, when are we going to see some white sox stuff that looks like this?

Nice spot for the NBA featuring Steve Nash. Very simple and clean. Just like the other spots for NBA’s “where amazing happens” campaign. I could see this spot being played during halftime on the big board.
I’m still organizing the site and something like this post should probably be in a different column, but I wanted to let everyone know that a motion graphics opportunity has recently come up.
It would be perfect for someone just out of school (or close to graduation) who needs some real-world work on their reel. It’s not a paying gig, but your work would be seen by every post-production company in Chicago. I’ll say that again… YOUR work would be seen by EVERY post house in Chicago. Not handed over to every company with the hope that they watch it… but, literally forced to watch.
Sound too good to be true? Email me for details and the finest candidate will win.

With the Pro-Bowl behind us, the football season is at a close. And so too, are the NFL motion graphics posts. But I think we’ll be seeing some new baseball stuff pretty soon. If anyone has any examples of work they’d like to post, shoot me an email me. In the mean time, here is a nice show package for ESPN’s Ruleta Rusa by nailgun.
Some friends and I were discussing yesterday, the sometimes, overuse of big 3d graphics for sports. I remembered a spot that Brand New School made about 5 years ago now, that was hand drawn, motion tracked, cartoon style. It was pretty original for its time, I know that look is a bit played out now (like spray paint drips and deer heads) but, none the less. Cool sports motion graphics without 3d.
Couldn’t find it on BNS site, but it is on Emmett Dzieza’s site.

Looks like Blur did it again. After winning an Emmy for their Fox NFL graphic design last year, I’m sure they won’t have a problem re-peating. Although I can’t seem to find any quicktimes or screen grabs of the on-air stuff.
Here are some Superbowl/Graphics related links.
-Every Superbowl Logo Ever!
-Superbowl XXII on iTunes. Watch the highlights for yourself, although I’m not sure how much of the game they have. At 20mins, it seems like you get just about every snap and no replays or sweet graphic packages.
-That well deserved FOXbot ass whopping.
-Is Travis Barker still cool?
