For the 2010/11 installment of Thursday Night Football packaging, we were fortunate enough to orchestrate a multinational collaboration with some of our favorite artists. Our Los Angeles-based team worked closely with Dublin-based Echolab and Paris-based BrightPhoton, as well as fellow countryman and legendary concept artist, Hawaii-based Craig Mullins and of course the talented team at NFL Network down the street. The resulting creation is an epic, NFL-branded labor of love.

With a racing logo treatment, Director Vincent Viriot manages to bring on the energy of the race and bright colors of the experience producing another clean and tasteful piece.

Paris-based broadcast production agency created a new submersive identity for Eurosport HD throwing the viewer in the ring of action. With cars crashing , Balls exploding and gunshots everywhere the new idents depict 18 sporting disciplines and a flood of emotions to highlight the new theme “All sports , All Emotions” . The new idents came with a redesign of the famous Eurosport logo as well and was introduced On 5th April 2011 across all its media – on air, on-line and in print .
I started this blog a couple of years ago and this has to rank up there in my top 10 favorite posts. In terms of editing and shooting style, it doesn’t get any better than this. I love the style of these ESPN “Best” spots by Carlos Serrao. Carlos is an amazing photographer whose work is simply stunning. The simplicity and boldness of these spots truly capture the drama of the action and the attitude of the “Best”. Shooting with a Phantom camera doesn’t hurt either, but pay special attention to the music. Where some directors may ask you for some text hits or a motion graphic effect, a well placed edit to the music can take your piece from cheesy to, well… the “Best” (read *update below!). So take a break from those AE and C4D tutorials and brush up on your editing.

The music for these spots (except the hockey) were composed and performed by Derek Cintron. What is immediately noticeable about these tracks is that they don’t have that digital band sound. Thats because Derek performed these instruments live, AFTER the spots were edited! Amazing collaboration and the results speak for themselves. Check out more of Derek Cintron’s work with DC3. It’s safe to say you’ll be hearing DC3 in stadiums and amphitheaters in the future, either touring them or at a sporting event on the jumbotron.
